This current study by Econsult includes data from 20 housing authorities on their ongoing Recovery Act projects, work that reflects the types of projects housing authorities routinely engage in with capital funds. Econsult estimated the national, state, and local economic impact of the capital spending by 20 sampled agencies. The sampled agencies received a total of $700 million in Recovery Act funds

In 2007, Econsult completed the first-ever study of the economic impact of public housing expenditures. That study provided assessments of the impacts of PHA spending on operating expenses, and capital and maintenance expenses in 10 metropolitan areas. The study also determined the overall value of the existing public housing stock.
