The Market for Commercial Property Energy Retrofits in the Philadelphia Region, October 2011
Econsult was contracted by the Greater Philadelphia Innovation Cluster (GPIC) to undertake a study examining the potential size and scope of the market for energy-efficient retrofits of commercial and industrial properties in the Philadelphia region.  The resulting report compiled and analyzed information on building age, use, configuration, enclosure type, materials, energy load and ownership concentration for the entire stock of commercial and industrial properties in the region sized between 20,000 and 100,000 square feet in order to identify which properties would most likely benefit from gains in energy efficiency from retrofits to their materials and/or mechanicals.  It concludes by describing the size and location of these candidate properties, and reports the likely gains to the region's economy and job market if retrofits to this stock of buildings were undertaken.
