Kevin Gillen, Econsult’s creator of the Philadelphia City and Regional Home Prices Indices, will speak at a September 2011 breakfast meeting of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE). The Counselors of Real Estate is a national organization and designation offering membership by invitation to senior real estate consultants and advisors. There are approximately 40 members in the Delaware Valley Chapter, including attorneys, asset managers, appraisers, capital markets specialists and other advisers. The Council of Large Public Housing Authority (CLPHA) released Econsult's Report entitled Public Housing Stimulus Funding: A Report on the Economic Impact of Recovery Act Capital Improvements. Econsult estimated the national, state, and local economic impact of the capital spending by 20 sampled agencies. The sampled agencies received a total of $700 million in Recovery Act funds. Econsult Senior Advisor, San Sherman (who is also the chair of Philadelphia's Historic Commission, and a board member of the Congress for the New Urbanism), along with Econsult vice president Kevin Gillen and John Norquist, President and CEO of Congress for the New Urbanism, wrote a commentary on how existing federal regulations, particularly those at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, hold incentives for sprawl and disincentives for urbanism. The report states: "Successful enactment of the proposed legislation could generate economic and fiscal benefits that far exceed those associated with an intrastate system. In particular, passage of this legislation could allow New Jersey to become the business hub of a burgeoning new industry, exporting services to and generating income from gamers throughout the country."
